It is a common and contagious fungal infection of the skin that causes scaling, flaking, and itching of the affected areas. These infections often appear as small red or clear fluid filled bubbles on the skin surface and can often be itchy. If left untreated these infections can spread to surrounding skin and nails and on occasion a secondary bacterial infection, which can be more serious in nature.

Often contracted from a public place such as pool, sauna, hot tub, gym shower, hotel rooms and often requires a warm moist environment.

Treatment is aimed at destroying the fungal tissue and returning the skin to normal health using topical or oral antifungal medications and stringent follow-up.
