Forefoot Pain / Metatarsalgia / Dropped or Mal-Positioned Toe Joints

What is it?

Causes

Treatments

Forefoot pain is often related to the toes or toe joints called metatarsals. Mal-alignment in these joints can cause strain, inflammation and pain on the ball of the foot and if left untreated can result in deformity.

Poor foot biomechanics, congenital deformities, or foot injury.

A biomechanical assessment is required to determine any forefoot imbalances are present. Treatments include forefoot toe joint exercises; padded custom footwear and prescription orthotic devices are commonly used.
